We’ve been in our rental house for 1 year now (so crazy to think about that) and the process of redecorating has been going, although quite slow because between working a full time job, blogging all night long, and raising two little kids… well yea, home stuff usually comes 4th or 5th on my list of to dos. 🙁 Our house is in a constant state of mess, but I obviously don’t share that with everyone.. and we usually will go through cleaning spurts where we spend a week tidying up and then it’s a mess again. It probably makes sense to clean a little bit every night… or at least every other day, I really need some help in this department, so if you have tips, I would love to hear them!
Anyhow, I did tidy up our living room a bit to snap these pictures to show what is currently looks like. We’ve had these couches and tables for years and got them from my husband’s brother’s wife’s cousin (say that 10 times fast) who owned a furniture and was liquidating. They fit well in that space and are comfortable. They’ve gotten pretty dirty with Austin spilling things on it and Vivian’s grubby fingers on it, but ehh it works! The fireplace mantle could use some sprucing up, I am thinking a big canvas print or something like that, but definitely when the holidays come around, I like to decorate it all out with glitter branches and what not. In terms of accent chairs, well we’ve got this light blue/gold one from Ross Dress For Less that I was eyeing way back when. I kind of wish I got too of them, but it’s a little bit too late now. The spot where the other chair would go is taken up by Vivian’s 4Moms Rockaroo. Yes, that thing is amazing for being able to put her down for some time so that you can make dinner, go to the bathroom, etc. HA! But my favorite part of the living room is probably that Rugs USA Homespun Moroccan Trellis Rug! I got it in the white with blue accents color in a 7’6″ x 9’6″ size. It took me awhile to decide on the size but I went for the furniture barely sitting on top of rug look. I’ve read some articles about best furniture placement with rugs and I’ve found that this way or where the furniture sits completely on edges of rug are the way to go! Who knew there were so many furniture decorating rules, I’m probably breaking a bunch of others, but I am no interior decorator!
