And here we are at another Friday, geez, how does time fly by SOO fast! But at least it’s finally the weekend and weekend = fun and time to get some sewing in! I’ll also be helping my friend Nancy celebrate her birthday AND my friend Lai and her husband’s 6 year anniversary! What are your weekend plans? Hope it’s grand!
Now on to the Flavors to Follow… Do I really need to explain why I have a current obsession over all things doily? I think not!! But how about a Wikipedia definition:
A doily (or doilie) is an ornamental mat, originally the name of a fabric made by Doiley, a 17th-century London draper. They are crocheted and sometimes knitted out of cotton or linen thread. Openwork allows the surface of the underlying object to show through. In addition to their decorative function doilies have the utilitarian role of protecting fine-wood furniture from the scratches caused by crockery or decorative objects.
Yes, I would say that I mostly agree with the above statements, to summarize… a doily is an ornament, pretty, has holes, lace-like and protects furniture! 🙂 Here’s some beautiful doily inspirations that I’ve found throughout the web this week, enjoy!
